I have personally used this process to upgrade 3 computers from Windows 7. I have even linked two of the upgraded systems to my Microsoft account to further prove validity of the digital license (see pictures).
BE ADVISED: As I did with my installations... I had and was currently running on my computers
"GENUINE"
Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Ultimate installations with valid licenses. A family member I helped upgrade was currently running a
"GENUINE"
Windows 7 Home Basic version.
Through my research I found that
Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, and Professional editions, and Windows 8 (Basic) and Professional editions, and Windows 8.1 (Basic) and Professional
all should upgrade as well. Do NOT SUPPORT Enterprise, RT or Foreign Language editions.
If you have any of the above
"GENUINE"
versions currently installed then you can follow the same steps I did to upgrade to Windows 10 Home or Professional (depending on your current version).
You and many others, like me, probably held on to Windows 7 until the bitter end... after all Windows 7 worked pretty dang good. But
Windows 7 has hit the end of it's life cycle officially as of January 14, 2020 and is no longer supported
... and you probably get reminded like I did every time I booted up my system and logged into Windows 7.
If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your computer will still work, but it will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Your computer will continue to start and run, but will no longer receive software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft...  you could upgrade to Windows 8... but why? This information lets you bypass the soon to be ended Windows 8 life cycle as
Windows 8's mainstream support actually ended on January 9, 2018, with the extended support end date projected to be on January 10, 2023)
Unless you want to risk SECURITY issues, you and millions of other Windows 7 users must upgrade to Windows 10, and many are probably lamenting the extra cost of doing so...
Microsoft currently charges 9 for the standard edition
and 9 for the Professional edition (see their website to verify).
Insiders tip... if you don’t have a licensed copy of Windows 7 or 8, you can buy a legal and
"GENUINE"
copy at third part retailers...
even on eBay... for a fraction of the cost of a Windows 10 license. Install a "GENUINE" copy on your computer then apply the process as outlined in my
informational guide

PLEASE NOTE: Whatever your current situation... it is advised that your Windows 7, or Windows 8,  or Windows 8.1 version you are currently running is updated with Windows Update...
I hope the
